the answer... from blogger... FINALLY

Users who have switched to Blogger in beta will not be able to login to comment on blogs that have not switched. Commenting using the “anonymous” or “other” options will still work. Update (9/12): We have started working on making this possible, however the change is substantial and will take a little while before it is ready. — latest update on Tuesday, September 12, 2006

I'll bet dollars to donuts that this is what is affecting my blog. I had an account for a few years then I removed my stuff, then I upgraded to the beta... tho Kate has had hers just as long.... maybe Kate didn't "switch to blogger in beta"? I dunno... I can only hope that it becomes easier for folks to leave me comments... tho that is how i have to leave comments for everyone too... I'll keep checking for updates.

Off to find breakfast.
