Playing agility

Today we went to Amy and Zoe's house (and Mason's too) to play agility on Zoe's agility course her parents were so nice to make for her :) Zoe is a BC in our Thursday night agility class and Kota and she just LOVE each other. Amy invited us over, and I asked if I could bring Chance too... 1) to get both boys out of the house and away from Sedona for a bit, and 2) to introduce Chance to agility.

We had a great time!

Here, Chance, Mason and Kota are watching Zoe do agility.

Chance and Zoe playing... Zoe loves everyone :)
Chance watching someone do agility
Zoe watching Mason. Isn't she pretty? See the mini-me in the background?? ;-)
While it's not a great video in terms of what he can do, it's something ;-) I think he was set off by the gravel surface... unstable to jump from and land on. He was getting better by the end of our visit.

And Chance did VERY well, having never seen agility equipment before. He was playing in the tunnel, jumping the jumps on command and even did the teeter a few times! Amy has wide weaves set up and he did those with a lot of guidance and encouragement also. I think I have another Agility dog in the making :)

Kota was just being Kota... I liked how his tail came straight up from in between his ears! ;-) Gotta love him!
This is Mason. He was getting in trouble for harrassing Chance ;-) Chance kept looking him in the eye, and Mason was having none of it ;-) In the end, they were all buddies :)
Chance being typical goony Chance :)
Kota standing at attention looking at something off in the distance near the house.
Zoe and Kota meeting nose to nose :)
We had a great time, and plan on going back on Tuesday. Once Sedona's not in season, I plan on taking her to Amy's too... maybe i can train my other two the basics as I'm training Kota "officially".... they can get some "hand me down" training :)

I Rescued a Human Today

I rescued a human today.

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid.

As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them.

As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone's life. She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me.

I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her.

Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well.

Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms. I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes. I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors. So many more to be saved. At least I could save one.

I rescued a human today.
