I had a really really bad experience with the bosses boss yesterday... I went in with her (my boss) to talk to HER boss about an issue that came up about blind transferring calls to people on the east coast. We got an email that was basically saying to stop doing this, but I wanted to talk to the guy about the fact that it happens to us (and has) for a long time. My boss started the talk then deferred it to me, and when I started talking to him about it, he wanted examples. I told him we'd sent examples but nothing was done. He wanted examples from ME. I said it doesn't happen to me anymore much, and he said then the people it was happening to should come see him and give him examples. I proceeded on about how he was on one level and we, the worker bees, were on another. He got really mad about that, because I keep telling him that, and he spouted. He said "you think I'm so far fucking removed from the situation" and I said yes. He said "do you even know what I do?" and I said, yes, you're management... to which he replied "damn right, I'm management, and you're not. You're excused". My boss grabbed me by the shoulders, turned me around and walked me out of the office. Not only was my boss there, but a co-worker was too. I'm glad though, because now I have witnesses to how he treated me.
Applying for jobs became a higher priority yesterday after this happened... I cannot work with someone who is ok with treating his employees as he treated me... in front of other people even. He raised his voice to the point where anyone in the general area could have heard him as well. How embarrassing. Not so much for me, but it really must have made HIM look bad in the eyes of those who heard him.
He didn't so much as look at me today, but my boss had a meeting with the guy who is ultimately over the whole building today. I don't know if I was brought up or not, but I can't help but worry about it. I know I shouldn't, but I do.
Just keep applying... somethign has to come along. I need to spend some time on the State of Oregon website and apply for jobs there too. It's such a PITA to apply for jobs for them though...
