Chance (Farpoint's Takin' Chances) was born 2/20/07 ~ therefore he is 4 months old TODAY!
By far, Chance has been the easiest puppy I've ever had ~ hands down! He came crate trained (all of my dogs have, thank goodness!), leash trained, he knew his name (and came to Chunky as well... thanks Mandy ;-) ), and has been the easiest to potty train out of the 5 (omg, I've had 5 now? Ollie, Kota, Rion, Sedona and Chance...yikes!) I've had. Chance has ONLY ONCE ever messed in his confinement. Crates are a given, but big huge x-pens? And I think HIS good manners are rubbing off on Sedona, who didn't used to care about peeing in the x-pen. Chance was sleeping on the bed with me at 12 weeks, and i thought Sedona was young at 14 weeks. A very curious puppy, but not destructive (thank you!!!) and drips with love for his person. Such a difference... boys and girls.... not that I don't absolutely adore my girl, but there's just something about the boys... :) YOU know what I'm talking about.. most of you.
He has yet to earn a "middle name" (yes, all my dogs have middle names... and Gramma Carolyn, don't you dare call him out on his name! ;-) ) but he's fit in perfectly. (So far ;-) ) Kota loves to play with him, but rarely gets the opportunity to because Sedona tends to monopolize him. We knew it would be that way, but sometimes Kota just really wants to PLAY! He and Sedona used to play all. the. time! Kota spends more time by my side these days, but does get in a few good play sessions a day.
I digress. It's Chance's 4 month birthday today, and even though I took pictures this weekend (thanks Kim), I thought it fitting that I have pictures of him on his 4 month birthday. Will do the same for all months going forward.
So... without further adeiu......

Not a bad looking puppy =) I'm rather fond of him. He's getting leggy, but his length is good, his chest makes me drool, his "look" reminds me of Carbon. Do you know what I"m talking about? That look you get when you look into a dogs eyes.... He has Carbon's eyes.... almost to a T. His head is nice, and OH my GOSH can this puppy cruise! I've taken to taking him out by himself to check the mail (the three of them is a little much right now, plus it's good experience for him... the trotting) and oh..... he has that drive that I don't see in Sedona.... It's unfortunate that we don't have any dog shows or matches right now (well, except for the fact that it was 112 today and it's just way too damn hot to do such things outside) because he could really benefit from some match experience (so could I). Lucky for me, though... This lady Phyllis, who is a handler, and she breeds Ridgebacks (I met her though Kathy Davis, and her legendary Ridgeback, Mac Davis =) ) - she's started having handling classes in Mesa.... on Wednesday nights at 7:30. It's like 35-40 minutes from here at the MOST, and I have plenty of time to get there, now that I"m getting home at 5:30. We're going to start going to those classes, and then Saturday classes (yay!!) when she's not at dog shows. I proved to myself that I didn't "NEED" classes to get Sedona trained, but the socialization sure is nice... and the actual "ring time".

He's just such a cute CUTE dog.... such a happy guy, with such a good personality. Does it ooze out the picture enough for you?? ;-)

And this was our first attempt at stacking without mom behind us (and note Sedona peeping in from the bottom "helping"). He did rather well, actually... smart little puppy! He loves liver :)
So happy 4 months Chance (& Celie too!!!)
=)
