For those who read, or those who care, (those two are not necessarily one in the same ;-) ) here's a bit of what's been going on in MY life....
Last Sunday (1/19) when i got home from work, Chance was completely lame in his front right leg. I gave him aspirin and crated him for the night and he was still limping Monday morning. He's been on Rimadyl since then and was still limping yesterday, so I took him to the vet today. I had a great (more experienced) vet go over him... from the tip of each toe to his shoulder. She did range of motion, felt every movement and felt confident that there was nothing broken... After closer examination we found some owies on his leg. Given where his swelling was, and where the owies are, we came to the pretty solid conclusion that Kota did it when playing with him.... So he has another course of Rimadyl and some antibiotics because the doctor said his lymph nodes were a bit swollen. She thinks he's fighting off an infection that is likely from his injury to his leg. So he's allowed to be with the other dogs in doses, but no serious rough housing, and crate rest and Rimadyl.
I leave on Monday night for a weeks visit with my Dad. Last year I swore it would be the last time I saw him, but somehow the ole guy pulled through another year. His will to keep going is starting to diminish, and he's readily admitting that he's tired.... tired of struggling. I leave Monday, arrive in VA Tuesday morning, and will be there with him until Saturday. I'll get to see all of my siblings (step sisters and brothers) while I'm there, and am looking forward to seeing my Dad, for what I can only assume is the last time.
While I'm gone, Kim will have the Cardigans... We've figured out logistics on how to handle the whole Jazmine/Kota thing (one will be in the crate before the other is let loose, and vice versa), and now she's going to have to deal with the broken puppy who will want nothing more than to play with his bestest Weim buddy.... luckily it's our short week and Kim will be home all of the days except for 2....
I dropped out of my Education program at the University of Phoenix and am now looking for Speech Pathologists in the area who are looking for some extra help. I need 150 clinical hours before I can actually work with the kids in school.... it's like my "student teaching" time I guess. With every passing day, I get more excited to get out of my current job. I finally told my boss that this is happening, but she agreed that it was too early to give my official notice... but at least it won't be a complete surprise when I do.
We show in Scottsdale on 2/29 and 3/3... can't make the weekend because of work :( After that, we'll show in Tucson (again) 3/22 and 23... it's supported and Ron Buxton will be judging sweeps. I'm curious to see if he'll see the resemblance (in the eyes) to Carbon when he goes over Chance. :) I was toying with the idea of supporting the entry and entering Dakota, but I think I will have my hands full enough with the two younger class dogs....
My friend Joanie is getting a Cardigan (finally) :) She's getting a black boy from Becky Martin... he's a Token x Rose puppy, and is cute cute CUTE :) I can't wait to have a show partner :) She's super sweet and is so taken with my three... I can't wait to meet her new boy. We're working on names... she wanted help, and I LOVE naming dogs :) So you'll see updates on her "kid" here too soon :)
Well I guess that's all that's going on in my life these days.... I think that's plenty :P
