she does it again...

Sedona was Winners Bitch/Best of Winners for another 2 points today. Carol Teal got some video of Sedona too - which made me smile! Unfortunately I can't figure out how to get it OFF of Facebook, so you have to go to my Wall on Facebook to see it ;-) I'll have pictures soon - a few people have emailed me and told me they have pictures, so I'll post them when I get them.

Today's win puts her at 7 points - 8 more and her majors and she's done. :)

Curtiss is doing a great job with her, and I couldn't be more pleased! :)

The Hiatus has ended!!

Sedona went out to the Silver Bay KC show in San Diego with Curtiss Smith and did VERY WELL!! I found out via text message first, from Mandy (THANK YOU) that she went WB for the 2 points. When Curtiss called this evening, he told me that she went BOS over a bitch special!!! My jaw dropped!! :) Still only 2 points, but HOORAY!!! He did get a picture of her from today, so I'm SO excited to see the win picture! This put her at 5 points... she still needs her majors and 10 points. Keep your fingers crossed!!! :)

He's pleased with her and how she is showing for him, the first weekend out. I'm pleased too! :) :) :) Yep - I'm happy.

the same, but very different

Life has been pretty much the same as always....

except for the fact that Sedona has been with a handler since Tuesday and I'm missing her presence in the house. It's been nice to only have to feed 3 dogs, but I miss my pretty girl.

I decided to finally go for the handler route after much debate... I figure if a handler can't finish her, she's not going to finish. We'll see how she does in the shows she's entered in and we'll re-evaluate after that.

Fortunately for me, she's only with the handler "part time". I dropped her off on Tuesday, and I can pick her up on Monday. I'll have to drop her off again on Thursday so she can show Friday-Monday. After that we'll figure out what our next step is going to be.

Piper shows next weekend... she's been having fun being a show dog... but she REALLY loves Agility. It might be her calling after doing the show dog thing ;-)

She and Chance are going for photos soon. My friend Amy is going to take pictures of Chance in movement, and she asked me to bring the puppy... she is the one who took the lovely pictures of us last year for her photography class... :) I can't wait to see what she comes up with.

Kota is busy dropping every hair on his body... it's a miracle these guys never go bald with all the hair they lose! He's been doing better since I put him on glucosamine daily.. I'm really glad.

Me, well... I've been crazy busy at work, but Spring Break is just around the corner and before I know it, school will be over! :) I helped a kid figure out how to make the /r/ sound this week and he did it for the first time with complete success! It made my day! Maybe even my WEEK! I love my job, but when awesome things like this happen, it makes me love it even more! :)

School is keeping me equally as busy.... classes are giving me a run for my money. I'm doing the best I can - managing work and school, but let me tell you, it's a challenge most days. I'm looking forward to this semester being over... I'm NOT loving my classes this time around. I go to Greeley, CO this summer for school. I'm looking forward to it in some respects, but not in others. It's a LONG drive, which will be.... LONG... but on the flip side, I've never been to Colorado and when better to be forced to go, but July! :) I probably wouldn't go unless I was being forced. :) Better yet, I'll be able to take the dogs, and we can spend the weekend at Rocky Mountain National Park. :)

Well, it's Wineday, er, Friday... so I'm going to go and indulge in some wine in celebration of the fact that I survived another week :)

OMG - girls will be girls....

Or maybe not... my normally prissy girl looks like she's been swayed the way of the Mud Princess...

It was just POURING and I was upstairs in the office doing some stuff... I came downstairs to find the steps on the stairwell looking dirty... then I saw Sedona grinning at me...

I had to grab the camera and document the goon....

Click on that and look at how NASTY she is! OMG.

And then the partner in crime... the leader of the dirtiness.... *sigh*
The boys had slightly dirty feet and wet undercarriages, but the girls went HOG WILD in the rain (and subsequent mud from the yard). Oye Vey.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Chance!

Chance turned 3 yesterday.... in some ways it's hard to believe he's only three, but in others it's hard to believe he's 3... if that makes sense. When Mandy handed me "Chunky" at the 2007 Nationals, I knew I was in trouble... I had no idea how much trouble I was going to be in! :)

Our tradition had been to go to a park and let the dogs run around for Chance's birthday (since his is the only birthday when it's not a gazillion degrees outside) and then end it with a group picture... however... it decided it was going to rain yesterday, so the park idea was out. In lieu of the park, I decided we could all take a field trip to PetSmart.

Here is Chance being nosy and trying to come up to the front seat.
And when I peeked over my shoulder, this is what I saw... little princess if ever there was one. Her royal subjects were all on the floor... LOL
Once in PetSmart and leashes were all figured out, we started wandering the aisles. The three black dogs decided to start shopping first...
and then Chance got in on the game... "so much to sniff, so little time"....
something under the shelves was calling their name... or that's what they told me anyway...
Once we got to the back of the store where there were fewer people, I got our obligatory "group picture". Sure, it may be in PetSmart, and Piper's eyes were closed, but by golly, I got a group picture!
And once we got back in the car, I had to get their adorable little faces all peeking out of the Element... too bad Piper's big ear was in Kota's face... the other pictures were not nearly as close to being good ;-)
After we got home, I had Chance pose with his "goods". He got a Wooba (to replace the Wooba that Bobbin killed in San Bernardino in January), and some meaty knee bones. I got a "biscuit buddy" because the container I was keeping treats in for training just wasn't cutting it!
Up close with the birthday boy and his birthday goods :)
Then we decided to tear into those meaty bones... Chance wasn't sure what to do with his at first. He knew it smelled good, but....
The girls got right into it... Sedona, being the lady she is was gentle about it... Piper dove right in like it was prey... "must kill food".
Kota, on the other hand, took his and HID with it... making sure NO ONE would get HIS bone....
Chance finally figured out that it was covered in meaty goodness and started enjoying himself....
Later that night I broke out with the Frosty Paws. I've never bought them before, but this seemed like as good of occasion as any to have some for the first time. I lit three little candles on Chancey's and we (I) sang him Happy Birthday (yes, I'm a dork who has no life).
In typical Kota fashion, he dove in and took the whole thing in his mouth (pig).
Sedona again, was more lady-like and paced herself...
Chance seemed confused (or at least he looks it in this picture).
Piper (aka cow) wasted no time filling her face...
Chance finally realized it WAS good, and started licking and nibbling at his frozen yummy treat...
Kota: "Mom, is there more? Can I have more? Please? Pretty please???"
Piper: "dang that was good Mom... when will you let me have more? I tried to eat everyone else's too, but it wasn't nearly enough..."
And the crew investigating the empty bowls... relishing in their wonderful day of goodies....
Ah yes, I think Chance and crew had a great birthday... it's hard to believe he's 3. May he have many many more ahead! :)

beautifying the kitchen

Since my landlords won't allow me to get sunscreens on the windows, I had to get "black out" curtains for the kitchen. The way my house sits, the kitchen and master bedroom get the majority of the sun in the summer... three exposed walls facing south = VERY FREAKING HOT rooms.

I decided I would go ahead and get them up now, since we had a week of Spring like temperatures that reminded me the summer heat will come fast.

I also moved my kitchen table while beautifying...

Now I think I will go out in search of new placemats for the table. You can't tell, but there are maroon and green colors in the cushions of the chairs... so I opted for the "stand out" color ;-) Now ALL of the dogs lay under the table while I sit here on the laptop :) They think the move was great...
The curtains are a bit long and I'm considering making them shorter... thoughts? The living room will be getting curtains next - but that window is REALLY wide... I'll have to do some hunting for something that will fit appropriately. :)
Now my kitchen counters are a mess again... does it ever end?? ;-)

The Fluff

I have received results back on both Chance and Piper...

Chance is fluff free
Piper is a fluff carrier

We're waiting for DM results on Chance, and I will be doing Sedona's DM testing soon. Stay tuned :) I should just sign my next paycheck over to DDC Vet! ;-)

amazing family history

I joined a group on Facebook that was all about figuring out how us Genaw's are related... I almost immediately found my dad's cousin and her daughter! How cool is that!!

This is a picture of the family before my grandfather was born.... these are my great grandparents and four of the 7 total children they ended up having!

And a later photo with all of the children. I believe that my grandfather is the one sitting in the middle between his parents.
And this is a picture of my great great grandparents (on the left) and a great great grandmother (mother of my great grandmother).
I've always had an interest in family history, and now these photos are springing up! I'm in genealogy heaven!

I also found out tonight that I am a direct descendant of someone who was involved in the Louis and Clark expedition. George Droulliard was a sign talker and hunter for Louis and Clark. George was a great grandfather of my great grandmother Elizabeth Droulliard Genaw. Super cool! :)

Safe Travels, Cannons!!!

Tom, Carolyn and the girls left a bit ago... Molly asked to stay here so she could keep playing with the crew here, but her parents said "no" :) Goodbye girls!!

"please? I'll be good, and I'm cute!!" unfortunately, her parents still said "no". :)
"Goodbye Grandma and Grandpa Cannon! Thanks for bringing the dog fam to visit too! We hope to see you guys again soon!"
The dogs all had a GREAT visit... and I think the humans did too - far better than last years visit, without question! :) I just wish I had planned better.... oh well, I think they enjoyed themselves, and I know I did! :)

Safe Travels!!

Hoop Dancers at the Heard

I decided to take Carolyn and Tom to the Heard Museum... I know how they love Southwest art. We managed to run into a Hoop Dancing competition... I will upload the tons of picture from the actual museum tomorrow - it's getting late now... but the hoop dancing was AMAZING....
