I met with my "uncle" today... he's my mom's husbands brother-in-law, so in essence, he's my uncle by marriage. He and his son are in the Real estate business together. I've known them since what seems like forever.
I decided that if I'm here for a while, I need to get into an investment... a home of my own, rather than renting. I could rent it out should I choose to leave, but while I'm here, at least I'd have a place of my own. I need to call this other guy who will run numbers and such, but in 2 weeks Bob (uncle) and Chuck (his son, my cousin, I guess?) will come back out and we'll look at property. They're encouraging me to stay out this direction, given the prices and bargins available out here versus in town. I kind of knew that was coming, but it would have been nice ot move closer into town. That's alright, it's peaceful and serene out here for the most part :)
So in the next week I should know whether I even QUALIFY to be able to buy a home... I know a bunch of you don't want to see me stay here... and to that I say "I don't want to stay here long term either", but for the meantime, life is what it is, and I'd might as well try to buy a house and have an investment of my own... I could rent it out or sell it when I leave... but I've got to at least try...

And who knows... it may all fall apart this week when the guy runs the numbers.... never hurt to try tho, as mom always said :)
