The Chronicles of Adam 4/27-4/30

Ok, so I think I was off a day, and i haven't posted in a few days, so we're going to dates.  :)

We have gone back to the vet and received a clean bill of health for the wee one.  The vet teases me (because of Adam's size), asking if I am SURE that the father is a Corgi....  ;-)  Yes.  Yes, he is.  :)

And without further adieu - the reason you came....  the kid...

Outgrowing Moosey

Adams imitation of a drunk old man...  (complete with pot belly and all!)

"Hai!"

Uncle Chance is amazed by Adam

Lookit how big his ears are getting already!!

He got to try gruel tonight for the first time.  That's about all he ate, but he seemed to enjoy it!
He's growing every time I turn around, I swear.  Three weeks tomorrow.  Watch for more fun pictures tomorrow! :)

The Chronicles of Adam - days 16 &17

It's the end of the semester...  major project due.  Sorry I didn't post Adam's chronicle yesterday.  He opened an eye yesterday (his left).  :)  That was his major milestone for yesterday! :)  Enjoy yesterday's pictures (day 16).
rug anyone?

Awwww

even more awwww

Sigh... and more awwww.

A very sound sleeper, that momma dog, Sedona.

So today, day 17, I woke up to 2 eyes from Adam!  If it's possible, he is even cuter!!!  He actually played like a little dog tonight with Sedona and I, and is now wiped out from the excitement...  he's mouthing everything and nudging..  it's absolutely adorable.
He's as long as Moosey now...

HI EVERYONE!!

And I wanna play!
He amazes me each day with how much he grows and changes...  interacting with him tonight blew my mind!  It was so awesome! :)  I've been told to hold on tight - that it's about to get real fun!! ;-)  Not sure how much more fun I could have - he officially 'christened' me tonight by letting lose and pooping on me (and the washer and the floor and the towel).  He's got a bout of the 'runs' due to the Clavamox... so yea.  That was fun.  :)  I'm officially a baby momma!

The Chronicles of Adam - day 15

The kid is 2 weeks old today!  It's been a roller coaster of a week - and I'm still on edge..  Poor kid - I'm always checking to see if he's breathing ok.... ;-)

Look - I'm as big as Moosey!!

everyone belly up... :)

2 week 'show side'

2 week 'off side'

2 week face shot (almost have eye peepers!)

2 weeks from the top...  little heffer dog! :)
We should have eye peepers in the next 24-48 hours...  I can't wait to see him react to his world when he can see it  :)

The Chronicles of Adam - day 14

Me and Mini Me

He's turning into a little dog...  he has an 'itchy spot' (or two).  He is starting to explore things with his mouth and is getting his feet under him.  :)  He likes to be rubbed under his chin.  :)
I can't wait to see his litter peepers, which should be making their appearance any ole time now! :)

The Chronicles of Adam - day 13

Today started off with a vet visit for the girl and her son.  Sedona, so she could have her stitches removed and have a post natal check - and Adam, to check on him after his diagnosis of pneumonia on Tuesday.
He graduated from the gram scale at the doctors....  he needed the 'big kid' scale.  LOL

All tucked in with his traveling buddy

Nursing away post doctors visit

airing out their bellies
Doctor gave Adam a few things today....  many many kisses and snuggles, a nickname, and a thumbs up.  He said that he is doing well.  He's quite pleased with his progress.

I told Dr that I had been using a meatloaf pan to weigh the kid, but he has outgrown it recently...  Doctor asked if Adam could have a middle name - he wanted to call him Meatloaf..  Loaf for short.  So according to Dr. Miyahira, Adam is "Adam Meatloaf Genaw".  :)  He is creeping up on 3 pounds quickly and will be 2 weeks old on Sunday! :)

The boys have lost some serious face time on the blog - but rest assured they're here.  They get mom to themselves which is to their liking.  Sedona spends time out with us here and there when she's not tending to her mommy duties, but the boys get to sleep with me while Sedona sleeps in the laundry room with Adam.  I'll get some nice pictures of the very tolerant guys soon...  they deserve some face time as well :)

The Chronicles of Adam - day 12

We skipped day 11.  It was just too much for me.  I'm a walking zombie today too.

Lookit my gigantic...... FOOT!  (you thought I was gonna say bum, didn't you?? ;-) )

and my teeny tiny little hock :)  (with no points to be found still)

and my 'getting cuter by the day' face :) (again, with no points to be found)
I cannot thank you all enough for the overwhelming amount of love and support I have felt in the last 48 hours.  This puppy has so many people pulling for him - he has his own fan club! :)

He appears to be doing well...  as well as a 12 day old puppy can who has pneumonia.  He's steadily gaining weight (he's up to 2 lbs 7.5 oz on my scale) and is motoring around the whelping box.  He's nursing regularly (ya think?  Almost 3 pounds worth of not quite 2 week old Cardigan!) and aside from an occasional cough, he appears pretty normal.

He's receiving .05cc of Clavamox twice daily, and I started him on .01cc of plain yogurt mixed with Esbilac (to water it down some) today.  He's also receiving a hefty dose of love and affection as well as thoughts and prayers...  :)

He and his momma see the vet tomorrow.  Sedona for stitches removal (hooray!!) and Adam for a re-check.  Dr. Miyahira called me yesterday morning to check on us.  Not just Adam, but me too.  Love that guy!  (he's also the vet who did Kota's hematoma surgery back in May of 09).  Good vet.... good, GOOD vet.  :)

Onward to day 13.  :)

The Chronicles of Adam - day 10

No pictures from Adam's 10th day.

Now that things have settled, I will fill in the blank of the 10th day.

I came home for lunch to let Sedona out and check on the kid... all was well.  I came home at the end of my day and Adam was a bit lethargic as I was changing the towels in the whelping box.  I picked him up when I was done and he was REALLY lethargic.  I flipped him onto his back, and he was still really lethargic.  His color looked off, and it was as if he was in a really really deep sleep.

I finally figured out how to use my phone (crap - those smart phones are tough to use when your brain is not working) and called the vet.  Through Adam in the box and started breaking countless speed limit laws on my 25 minutes to the vet clinic.

The doctor had left for the day, but just as I got in there and hollered "HELP", I saw him walking through the doors back to the doctor area in street clothes.  They whisked him away and I stepped outside so I could formally lose it (I had to keep it together to get us there safely).  They came out to ask me if they could do x-rays, to which I said "of course".  I asked them to get his blood glucose levels as well.  They placed me in the therapy room (probably so as not to freak out the other patrons).  They took an x-ray and saw some pneumonia.  He was given oxygen and was reluctantly nursing from the bottle of Esbilac (he prefers mom's milk, thankyouverymuch).

After observation, the doctor felt that he was ok to go home with antibiotics (Clavamox) every 12 hours.  When he got home, he was MUCH stronger and active. He nursed every hour to two hours and was quite active last night.

Today he is still as mobile, and appears to be SO much better.  He'll receive Clavamox every 12 hours for 10 days.

Later today, I will post a Chronicle update for day 11.  In the meantime, please keep little Adam in your thoughts and prayers.  He's a strong little guy - let's hope he kicks this nasty pneumonia!

The Chronicles of Adam - day 9

Some reading was done on ways to simulate a litter - I have added a variety of stuffies in the whelping box.  I added a few new ones over the weekend.  This little white tiger is working well for Adam's snuggling pleasure...

widdle baby Cardi feet!!! :)

head starting to take less of a guinea pig shape and more of a dog shape ;-)

The End.
This morning Adam weighed in at 33.1 ounces.  He's crossed the two pound mark!  Oh my heavens! :)  He is enjoying his own voice these days - barking and growling and making puppy dog noises.  He makes me laugh at least a few times each day.  Sedona is spending time out with the dogs and I, but will go to the gate so she can see her baby the minute she hears a peep from him.  She's turned into quite the momma dog.  :)
Now we're on the count down till he can see the world...  I know my world is going to flip when he can see!  :)

The Chronicles of Adam - day 8

Happy One Week Birthday little big man!!! :)

All snuggled up with his 'littermates' :)

It almost looks like Sedona is nursing Adam's 'littermates' ;-)

The little big man at 1 week old

Lookit my nose filling in! :)

Snuggling with his friends...

'off side' @ 1 week

Face shot @ 1 week

I'm still not seeing any points...  thanks Rocky!
What an adventure this week has been! It's hard to believe that it's only been a week! :)  Much more fun ahead!! :)

The Chronicles of Adam - day 7

Hard to believe that the kid will be a week old tomorrow!  Amazing!!

getting some noms...

even hims little tail is gettin' fat!!

He likes the corner.  LOL
He is starting to become aware of his environment...  he flinched when I took a picture this afternoon.  Will have to watch the flashing...  he's a vocal kid - squawking at every opportunity it seems ;-)  I love getting his snuggles.
Sedona will have to go in for her stitches removal this week...
I ran into the wife of the doctor who delivered Adam at our Spring Carnival on Friday.  She gave me her email address so she can get Adam pictures...  How cute is that??  :)  I think I'll take piggy boy in to see the doc and the staff when Sis goes in for her stitches...  I bet they'd like seeing him! :)
Thanks everyone for your awesome little notes about my guy.  I'm pretty smitten with him - and I am LOVING watching him grow!  :)
